Abstract War is a digital photographic body of work made in the suburbs of Damascus in 2025, a few months after the fall of the Assad regime and the end of a 15-year brutal civil war. The destroyed districts around Damascus still stand as witnesses to the horrors of this war. Whether on a macro or a micro level, every detail in this rubble tells a story.
Habitats
What struck me most was the way the inside and outside of these former homes had collapsed into each other. Walls, ceilings, kitchens, and bathrooms were strangely open to the street. You could stand outside and look into the remains of someone’s living space.
